(Oh and I'm glad that things are looking better for your character. That's nice to hear.)
My honest guess is not at all. I care a lot about my chars, and I care a lot about the game. Because I care about the game, I won't let disappointment in a face change (skill change, armour change, attribute change, music change, whatever change ) dampen my love for the game as a whole. All are going to make their own choices, of course, and they absolutely choose what is best for them! But I think those who are most upset are also those who are most engaged, and, like me, they'll be happily involved in Nightfall. (BTW, that is not a dismissal of the problem, not at all. Just a random analysis about which, as you say, only time will tell. )
Can you tell me which is old and which is new? And when the new shot was taken? Remember there was an update today, and we must be sure that it was taken after that update. Thanks.
|
Ok I glad to hear that this not a dismissal of the problem however as Sable Phoenix put that it is actually possible and I do agree with him i've played many a game with lip syncing inciding WoW who go a step further and your character does a talk expression when you type and my character hasn't got a toothy grin, so someone in your company is telling porkies...again.
I do feel you have and scuse my blunt tone a stupid descion as people were not going to be as angry about not having lip sync than they are that their favourite characters have been changed. Again im confused on why this descion was made I can imagine the meeting "ok guys we finally can add lip sync but it'll be at a cost, let me run down the options...option A we put lip sync but we change the look of everyones character or B we leave lip sync well alone and everyone keeps their characters the way they made them." how the descion was lip sync is beyond me.
EDIT: To be honest I would be happy if you closed my characters goofy grin and gave back her cheecky grin she once have

@Gaile - Thank you for answering part of my question Gaile. I appreciate it a great deal.
I will have to add that, and I'm not kidding or being "mean" or even just hard headed about this either; the lack of post creation character editing is starting to hurt the game to some degree. Some players do not care about the look on the character they play. Those that don't care, good for you. Those that do care are generally the more hardcore role players that stick with and continue playing a game for years. EQ realized this and added in a /face command to allow players to alter the appearance at whim and as often as the player desired. Total freedom. I wont touch WoW as it looks dumb, so I have no idea if it has editing of characters as well.
Still left unanswered and a concern for many players* is whether Anet is planning on making the feature of changing a charaters appearance/hair styles/etc a chargable item. The lack of answer on this is becoming more and more disconcerting as I am starting to think that is indeed what Anet is planning. Could you please answer this?
Before someone says it can't be answered; it can. The side effects of answering this question will only have ill side effects if Anet is preparing to charge for such a feature. If they are not, then more happy players.
*Many being the key word. Not majority, not minority, but many. Meaning those I have talked to about and have held conversations with in game, in voice chat, and in PMs. Not all are concerned or care, but of those I spoke too, many of them were concerned. Several are not buying Nightfall untill such a feature is provided. Instead they are planning on buying NWN2 and perhaps buying Nightfall after such a feature is added in. Something for the devs to consider.
Again, thank you for answering.

We already got our answer on this. When we made our characters, there was a bug in the lighting which covered up their panda eyes and made it look like they had beautiful eyes and not panda eyes. Now this bug has been 'fixed' and we can at last see their panda eyes. It's the whole lighting system that has been 'improved' and therefore we can't selfishly expect any specific change just for our female Elementalists. We'd be asking A-Net to introduce a bug into the game - how preposterous.
Isn't it amazing - I wanted my character to look like they did when you made it but thanks to the online debate I now realise how stupid, selfish, unreasonable, freakish, etc this.
Now if everyone will just stop complaining, the problem will go away.

The faces have changed. Their geometry, along with the lighting system makes them look significantly (this is debateable) different to some people.
Now bugs and errors will be fixed (dear god i hope). But Anet is not gonna bow down to everyone just because of their own personal tastes and nitpicking because the faces change slightly, THAT is just ridiculous.
People be REALISTIC in your complaints.
The skin tone isnt gonna change back, imho. thats a lighting change.
The eyeliner thing...i think you guys are overreacting.
Facial expression...this im a bit impartial to.
The runny mascara stuff...ok that needs to be fixed.
The eye colors greying out, a little increase in saturation of the textures could be good.
The whole duckfaced/ rotten teeth thing really should be addressed....those are just creepy.
Disappearing earrings...ok! FIX THAT
-----------------
sidenote:
Me personally. I dont like most the faces on any character.
I've always picked the "least ugly" face, not the face i want, since none of them really appeal to me (with exception of my ranger).
My ritualist is UGLY and will always be wearing her headgear.
Really its hard to build an avatar that suits me because i dont have control over eye color/lip color/size etc.

Biggest problem I see for me and I'm sure it's for everyone is that we all spent a lot of times having the perfect look, such as my warrior, I didn't like the old man face so I specifically chose a younger face and then they changed that!
I known like 5 people, deleting their main character purely for the fact that their specific they wanted is gone and they felt like they lost their uniqueness.

Yeah but to be honest were hardly to blame for all this nobody forced them to do this, the way I see it is it's arnea net trying to add something fancy for nightfall to try and give em some extra points but it has back fired.
And as Wasaguest pointed out Neverwinter nights 2 and Diablo 3 are both on the way so if arena net wants to keep their PvE players then they will try their best to fix it, which im hoping they will.
If the job was done proberly and there were no panda eyes or buck teath then everyone would be happy, and by the way it isn't just this forum people are annoyied about this GWonline has a post were people are not happy so there are alot of unhappy people so there should be a change soon...all we need is confirmation that it will.

honestly i haven't seen any screenshots of "panda eyes" or anything. people just seem to be overreacting to this and complaining for it's own sake. most seem to look better (and yes, your dude mesmer looks a little fruitier but...you made a dude mesmer...they look fruity to begin with)
it's a change to add animations to mouths.
and i do agree with that one guys about his mesmer's teeth. they do look kinda...aged.
and yes, the "beauty and the beast" ranger pic is obviously light-saturated to look sillier.
mine are possibly different but they look fine to me.

Lol..
My Sin looks like he hasn't slept in a month (he hasnt actually) with those eyesacs they gave him. Or are they bruises from frontlining?
My Ele turned into a chipmunk (Time for a diet!) and got Botox to her lips..
My Rit
My Necro ... loading him now.... OMG, he got AGED! Someone call Miracle Max... I need to get like 25 years BACK... His NOSE! Ug! And... are those Dumbo's ears? Walt Disney should SUE! But Husk was meant to be ugly...
My monk i havent played past Yak's since his inventory is full of useful items :P so i dont remember what he looked like.... (idle for 5 months?)
My mesmer.. My oldest and most precious toon, is awful. Nose too aquiline, crosseyed, and has a pale diamond of flesh under her hairdo that ... isn't part of her face.
I have to agree that the changes are poorly done, and that when we picked our character faces back in the creation, we picked for a reason. Add new options, sure, but DONT mess with existing pictures. Alot of us ARE addicts, and VERY intense about this game and "our" looks.
I think the general concensus is... Return our old faces to us, ANet. If you can't, then let us know you're going to fix those faces with crosseyes, buckteeth, and enlarged earlobes. They may be minor changes, but when i made MY toons, i kept changing until i had the PERFECT visage for the character's "Personality"... And i've been running some of these toons for almost a year, AS they were. Pleased with my choices. And now i'm pretty miffed.

ANET Is Just Trying To Help
I don't understand, whenever Arenanet makes changes, everyone goes ballistic and rages on forums. Such as the recent change to faces, ANET changes one pixel and tons of people outcry saying it is awful and you can't even tell the difference besides better clarity. It's not like you stare at your characters face everyday, and you barely even look at the face, half the time your looking at the back running. Untill someone shows me how much of a messup or trouble they made, my statement stands clear.

I see no difference, so I see no problem. Unless hands start popping out of heads (yes I do mean plural) or the source engine is implemented here, then there is really nothing viable or exciting. I do like the whole Frankenstein monster thing going on with the ladies, so foxy (notice my sarcasm).
